Fillings

Fillings are done to restore teeth that are decayed or broken but have plenty of sound tooth structure to hold the filling in place.

Composite fillings (white or tooth colored) may be used on the anterior (front) teeth and some posterior (back) teeth. These fillings will blend with the natural dentition and are bonded to the teeth.

Amalgam (metal or silver) filling are still used in situations where composite filling are not possible or when the patient opts to have amalgam placed. Some advantages of amalgam fillings are that they are less hot and cold sensitive, easier to place, last longer and wear better.
